Shanghai Airlines 767-300 PEK-SHA MU5146

Flew Beijing/Capital - Shanghai/Hongqiao with China Eastern. When I first found out that I was flying China Eastern, I prepared for the worst. I prepared myself for excruciatingly uncomfortable seats, etc. Basically everything that I have read up about this particular airline has been horrible. So, I braced myself.

But my experience was quite the opposite.

To my surprise the aircraft operating wasn't a China Eastern aircraft but rather a Shanghai Airlines 767-300 machine.

Bad first impressions though - the flight was delayed for about 2 hours - Due to the weather, they claimed. We received free biscuits and bottled water. Further 30 minute delay onboard the aircraft - claimed due to the lack of clearance from Beijing Capital ATC.

Boarding Pass!

A projector!!! Been years since I saw one on a plane. Seating arrangment was 2-3-2 classic 767. I was perched in the front cabin between business class and a seperator. Although the flight was almost full it certainly felt like a private cabin as there were only a few rows of seats in this area.

Shanghai Airlines plane but china eastern headrest covers.

Only a 1h 30m flight but we got hot food! Wasn't the best though

No idea what that is

Retro-feel square 767 design. Been flying a lot of 777s lately and flying these 767s surely felt funny!

Excellent legroom. Perhaps the best economy legroom I have ever encountered. Sorry SQ.

Cabin

Very retro indeed!!!!

Seats were more than OK.

Arrived at Shanghai-Hongqiao. Very modern airport!

Overall great experience. Completely better than expectations. Aircraft very comfortable. Only thing lacking was the long delay at Beijing and onboard the aircraft. Very impressed, China Eastern!
